Circling Back to FInd the Beginning at the End 60 x 48"
A long title referring to a TS Elliot poem, Four Quartets.
We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
This is often the journey of art and through art. Beginning with the joy and paralysis of endless sense of possibility. Fighting through the challenges and discovery to discover that the new is an expansion of the old.
There are no new stories. There are retellings of stories, some more and some less, but all stories are familiar. It is the familiarity of stories that bridges peoples, that reminds us of our common humanity.
Art invites stories. I can tell you mine, but I hope to hear your story. A painting provides a magical space between seer and object where stories naturally unfold. And we arrive where we began and know the place for the first time.
