Transition 48 x 60" Acrylic On Canvas
This painting began as winter was giving way to spring in the Metroplex. The storms and flash floods were beginning to make the news and the blue bonnets were beginning to stake out their territory. The sweet aroma of the bluebonnets, not yet released on the country trails.
I worked on this painting the entire month of March 2016 and thought I was painting the natural change of seasons. As I talk to more and more people I realize that something is going on beyond the rotation of the earth.
Transition is a harbinger of what is going on in individual lives here and around the world. The painting is dark yet the purpose of the dark is to bow to the light. This is a painting of hope, individually and corporately. It is my manifesto for 2016. In spite of the ugliness of the election process, I refuse to stay in the dark. I am moving towards the light.
